Dubai, known for its extravagant and groundbreaking developments, is set to unveil a dazzling Vegas-style Island, 'The Island,' featuring iconic Las Vegas hotel brands such as MGM, Bellagio, and Aria. With a staggering $1.2 billion investment, this 3.5 million square meter waterfront project, located at Jumeirah Beachfront, Umm Suqeim 2, is scheduled for completion by the end of 2028.

A Vision of Opulence

Wasl, the property developer behind this mega-project, has entrusted the construction to China State Construction Engineering Corporation Ltd Middle East, marking the largest construction deal in Dubai since 2017. The Island is destined to become a haven of luxury, comprising 1,000 hotel rooms and apartments, 10 villas, and a range of dining options.

Entertainment Extravaganza

At the heart of The Island stands a 110-meter-tall entertainment tower, offering panoramic views for 300 guests to witness spectacular 3D shows. The development boasts indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a business lounge, water fountains, and artificial waterfalls, creating an unparalleled atmosphere of opulence and leisure.

An 800-seat theatre will host a variety of events, including shows, conferences, festivals, and weddings. Additionally, a beach club will provide "maritime leisure services," promising an exclusive experience for residents and visitors alike.

Unique Attractions for All

The Island's 1.2-kilometer corniche will be a hub of activity, housing cafes, restaurants, and retail stores. Families will be delighted by the 'Cave of Wonders,' a dedicated space featuring sports and games for children. Zoya Akbar Khan, assistant manager for customer services at BNC Network, anticipates a "tremendous response" due to the involvement of globally recognized brands like Bellagio and MGM.

Vegas Comes to Dubai

In a recent MGM earnings call, Bill Hornbuckle, President and CEO, confirmed that The Island is under construction and will host 1,400 hotel rooms from the prestigious MGM Grand, Bellagio, and Aria brands. Each of these brands is a powerhouse in the Las Vegas hospitality scene, promising a level of luxury and entertainment that echoes the iconic establishments on the Las Vegas Strip.

Gaming in the Oasis?

While The Island's offerings are undoubtedly luxurious, the question of a casino remains unanswered. The UAE has taken steps towards gaming regulation, announcing plans for The General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority in 2023. Hornbuckle expressed MGM's interest, stating, "We believe they have the best gaming hospitality brands in the world with the best location in Dubai, and our existing project could include a world-class gaming component, if approved."

As the UAE explores the potential for licensed gaming, The Island stands poised to become not only a symbol of opulence but potentially a gaming destination like no other in the region.

In conclusion, The Island represents a fusion of Dubai's grandeur and the allure of Las Vegas, creating an oasis of luxury and entertainment that is bound to capture the imagination of the world. As the project progresses, it's poised to redefine hospitality and entertainment on the global stage, setting a new standard for luxurious living in the heart of Dubai.
